In 2007, we got our promo team together to
experiment with a fun tournament idea we called Shoe Ski Battle.
It turned out to be more competitive and fun than we imagined.
So in 2008, we decided to host a BFC Freestyle
Weekend at our home site in Houston and see if others
would be interested in taking part in another shoe ski battle as well as some fun barefooting and other off the water activities.
We had skiers from Wisconsin, including Footstock
Champion, Chris Van Zeeland, Scott Reed, with their wives, as well as Dave Mueller. They had not skied much before then due to
all the floods in the Midwest this year. So they were eager to
just get some time on the water.
Before we took to the water to battle, we made sure
everyone got a chance to ski and learn and new trick or two. It
was a great time watching Dave try a front-to-back, having never gone
backwards before.
Scott Reed is a good basketball player, so he
challenged everyone to a quick game of 21. And what started off as
a friendly game, turning into 3 games of who could endure the hardest
foul as they went to the basket. It was painful, but a lot of fun.
