Over the last several
months, we've been treated to some exciting skiing from Andre, Zane de
Villiers, and Heinrich Sam. Seems everyone can't stop talking
about the amazing new tricks those guys are coming up with.
But what most people
may not be noticing is the guy that always seems to be in the boat or
whereever else Andre and Zane seem to be getting themselves into
trouble. That guy is Quinn Van Niekerk.
I've noticed that
Quinn is always around. And that means he's always there helping
the other guys with whatever they need help with. And even though
Quinn is new to the sport, he doesn't seem to be intimidated by the
crazy talent around him. Seems to me he is taking full advantage
of the opportunity he has to ski with the most exciting skiers in the
world.
With all that talent
around him, it would be easy for him to get intimidated and maybe just
say he'll drive the boat or sit and watch. But that's not the
case. Quinn's right in the middle of the action being a sponge to
whatever the guys are willing to teach him. We've seen him
learning the flip with a half roll on the boom, and now we just received
a tape of him learning the side slide.
Quinn's quest for new
skill is what this sport is all about and he's a perfect example of how
you get better at the sport. Go out and find the best skiers in
your area and find a way to get in the boat with them. There is no
footer in the world that I know of that isn't willing to teach you what
they know. But it's up to you to keep asking for advice.
What footer wouldn't want to be Quinn Van Niekerk right now being able
to ski with those three guys every day. Quinn, we're all jealous,
and now you have something that neither Andre or Zane can lay claim to.
That's being a BFC Footer of the Month.
Congratulations
Quinn!! Keep up the good work. You're now eligible to be
voted BFC Footer of the Year.
