Dear Barefoot
Central:
I'd Like to
nominate a recent addition to our crew up here in Wisconsin for
barefooter of the month. His name is Micah Wegner, he's from Watertown
Wisconsin, he's 16 and here's why:
I first met Micah at the 2006 Wisconsin State Barefoot Tournament, his
first barefoot tournament. Now normally when we get first timers they
are a bit shy and usually very nervous. I know I was. Being that it was
the first time that I had ever organized a tournament I was a bit
overwhelmed with everything going on. Micah and his mother stuck out
however. They jumped right in by offering their help. I definitely took
notice.
I can't tell you how he did that weekend, but I did decide to contact
Micah after realizing where he was from. Watertown is about 20 minutes
from my house and our site. I called him up one day and invited him out
for a few sets and it's been no turning back since. I quickly
learned that Micah was quite talented, already doing front toes, all 4
tumbles, and working on back deeps. Now on first thought that sounds
pretty decent. It does, however, sound awesome when you figure in that
he had been barefooting for less than 4 months total. Since that day he
has learned back deeps, tumbles to 1,toe ups, back one foots and very
solid shoe turns. All I can say is, WOW!
It's not just his ability that brings me to this nomination though. It's
his energy, positive attitude, desire to ski rain or shine, and his
willingness to help out whenever and wherever he can. In my opinion kids
like Micah are exactly the charge three event needs. I could go on but I
think you get the picture. So, with that said I submit my nomination for
MICAH WEGNER.
Thank you
Sincerely,
Ken Kaestner
Ken:
Thanks for taking the time to nominate
Micah and sharing your experiences with him. We'll be keeping our
eyes on him as he progresses in the sport. Congratulations Micah,
you've now been added to a select list of footers from all around the
world that can claim a BFC Footer of the Month nomination. And
you're now eligible to be voted the 2007 BFC Footer of the Year.
So start your campaigning sooner than later. The voting gets
tougher each year. Good luck, and keep skiing hard.
