PRESS RELEASE - October
15, 2006
Eagle Sports made
a big impact at the 2007 Surf and Ski Expo by launching their 2008
barefoot waterski wetsuit line along with new products for the wake, ski
and surf markets. New Eagle owner's have decided to expand Eagle's
market to include Wakeboard, Slalom Ski, and Big Wave Surf. When
asked why, Eagle President Chuck Gleason replied; "We decided to
purchase Eagle due to their 24 year reputation for quality, durability
and cutting edge style. Eagle's design and production staff is 2nd
to none. Barefoot waterskiing is the perfect testing ground for
any manufacturer. But barefooting is a very niche market with
fairly flat growth year over year, as well as very few retailers
compared to other water sports. By utilizing Eagle's US based
production facility, I feel we can build suits for more markets and grow
Eagle's business overall. Our new wake vest line will offer
retailers something new that they know will be built to the same quality
standards Eagle is known for in barefooting. Our ability to build
one-off custom suits, show suits, and high volume runs in a fraction of
the time our competitors can, makes us unique in the market. We
have spent the last year gearing up for growth by moving into a new
100,000sf facility in Houston, Texas. We look forward to expanding
into the new markets, finding new riders to represent our line, and
establishing new relationships with the retailers in the market."
Eagle launched
their new line at Surf Expo in Orlando, Florida. They had an all
new booth, plenty of new product on display, and plenty of barefoot
waterki videos for all to watch. The favorite videos were "Pretty
Fly", "Hot in Here", "The Run Down", and "Going Too Fast". World
Champion, Keith St. Onge, was at the Eagle booth signing autographs and
answering endless questions about whether footing hurts his feet or not.
BFC and Eagle promo skiers Mike Salber and Ryan Boyd were on hand as
well. It was Ryan's first trip to Surf Expo. His comment
was; "I've never seen so many drop dead gorgeous women in one place.
I can't believe how many people are here and how many people are getting
to see barefooting for the first time. This is an experience I
won't soon forget".
